Idared apple has light red skin and a mild sour taste. It was introduced in 1935 in the American state of Idaho as a product of crossbreeding two apple varieties – Jonathan and Wagener which were cultivated in Penn Yan since 1791.

This apple is perfect for making an excellent applesauce. Cook the apples with the skin on and then strain the sauce to get the most beautiful pink color
